Welcome To The Global Sports Coaching Tennis Journal!

The Global Website for Tennis Coaching!

Dear Tennis Enthusiast

Issue 8, February 2007

After a sensational Australian Open Roger Federer now faces the challenge of completing the grand slam and reaching Pete Sampras' record of 14 singles titles.  Federer didn't lose a set in his latest triumph which strengthened arguments that he is the greatest player ever.  Serena Williams proved her greatness, but underlined she may have under performed in the past two years due to injury and commitment.

Our articles this issue look at the 2007 Australian Open and the issues it raised.  We profile the "man of steel" David Nalbandian's favourite drill (Nalbandian won two 5 set matches in Melbourne's brutal heat last month.)  This weeks lesson plan introduces net play and passing drills for squad players; while our final article answers the question "how can I get better without just working on my strokes?"

Please keep the feedback coming in, we want to hear what you think of the website and what you would like to see more of. Send feedback to admin@globalsportscoaching.com

How Can I Get Better Without Just Working on Strokes?

By David Horne

I recently received an email from a 4.5 player in the USA who proposed the following question:  "I could use some help with a plan to get better - I am a 4.5 rated player in the USA and would like to be a 5.5. For some reason, I can't find a coach that will help with an overall plan; they just want to work on strokes.  Any ideas?" ..........read full article>>
