Welcome To The Global Sports Coaching Tennis Journal!
The Global Web site for Tennis Coaching!
Dear Tennis Enthusiast
Issue 13, July 2007
Welcome to July's Newsletter - after an exhilarating European Grand Slam series where Nadal seems closer than ever to Federer; and the extraordinary Williams sisters confound all their critics.
The mens final was not quite as dramatic as Ivansevic's victory over Rafter in 2001 (9 - 7 in the 5th), but the quality of the tennis was remarkable. Both players had a 2:1 winners to unforced errors ratio and to see Federer challenged so strongly on grass suggests Nadal can take the #1 ranking from him. This rivalry is the highlight of the sport at the moment and the US hard court season will be fascinating; can Roddick, Blake, Djokovic et al can make some ground on the top two.
Venus Williams, inspired and supported by her young sister, proved you don't need to be in form or seeded highly to win when you are a champion. Like Serena at the Australian Open, Venus was an outsider before the tournament but proved her qualities winning comfortably in the final.
This month's newsletter features:-
- Week 9 of GSC's sample tennis lessons;
- An article exploring some of Rafael Nadal's winning plays and tactics;
- An article on high intensity fitness training specific to tennis; and
- Another installment of the "Federer File" analysing his mastery of the different court surfaces.
We hope you enjoy the newsletter and please keep the feedback coming in, we want to hear what you think of the web site and what you would like to see more of. Send feedback to admin@globalsportscoaching.com
