Welcome To The Global Sports Coaching Tennis Journal!
The Global Website for Tennis Coaching!
Dear Tennis Enthusiast
Issue 11, May 2007
The European clay court season is well under way and already Rafael Nadal has established his dominance on his favourite surface. A close defeat of Federer in the Monte Carlo Masters was followed by a dominant performance in Barcelona. Who will emerge as Nadal's competition when Roland Garros arrives. Federer made the same errors as he always does on clay against Nadal - making too many unforced errors off the topspin backhand. Expert observers are still mystified why the Great Swiss can't play more slice backhands and increase his attack on the net against the Spanish Bull. Perhaps Roger is keeping an ace up his sleeve in his quest for the Grand Slam.
The womens tour remains hard to read. The Williams Sisters continue to perform superbly despite limited preparation and tournament play. Top players continue to struggle under injury concerns. Can young rising stars like Vaidisova, Ivanovic and Jankovic make their mark at Roland Garros? It is the venue where the most surprises are bound to occur. Supporters are desperately hoping that Justine Henin and Amelie Mauresmo can have success at the French, bringing their attractive and diverse game styles that was missing at the Australian Open.
