Weekly Tennis Lesson Planning
Global Sports Coaching has hundreds of drills on its website and in its e-books to help with all aspects of tennis coaching and development. There are so many that we have decided to start producing weekly lesson plans to help coaches use the drills most effectively. Picking the right drill to help achieve the objective of the lesson is a crucial coaching skill.
Global Sports Coaching will provide a sample lesson plans for:-
- 30 minute beginner lesson,
- 45 minute intermediate lesson
- 60 minute development / squad lesson
These plans will be posted on the website each month.
They are designed to put the hundreds of drills, available to Global Sports Coaching members, in context.
The concepts of the lessons plans are sequential – with each structured to build on a specific aspect of each players game. The lessons are prepared in stages comprising eight lessons per stage. For instance, in Stage 1:-
- Beginners aim to develop fundamental motor skills and basic strokes
- Intermediates aim to develop strokes within the 5 playing scenario’s (baseline to baseline; approaching the net; passing shots; serve; and return.)
- Development / Squad players aim to develop strategy and shot selection within the 5 playing scenario’s.
More instruction and illustrated diagrams for each drill can be found within the Global Sports Coaching e-books if you require more detail on any drills.
