                             Agility Training for Tennis Players

Agility Training for tennis playersAgility Training is a very important fitness component in the success of a tennis player. Agility refers to the ability of a player to speed up, slow down and change direction while maintaining balance and control. The player must also maintain control over their court positioning through good recovery after each shot.

One key aspect associated with great tennis players is that they are able to get into the correct position to hit the ball thus producing a more effective shot. Being agile not only helps you get to the ball faster and set up better for the shot, but it also allows you to have the proper balance in order to hit the ball. Below you will find articles, programs and various resources relating to agility training.

Tennis Exercises to Improve Court Quickness

By Dr. Larry Van Such - Muscle Speed Expert

In tennis a lot depends on your speed – both court speed and racket speed. So let’s talk about court speed.Quickly getting to the ball and getting setup, being able to get to balls that are just out of reach, approaching the net quickly, and getting yourself positioned are just some advantages of being fast and quick on the court.Tennis exercises specifically designed to make your leg muscles faster, and not necessarily stronger, will give you the advantage over your opponent. Your opponent will now be the one chasing balls and gasping for breath. The secret to quickness on the court is to condition the fast twitch fibers in your leg muscles to perform what is called a 'fast twitch response' – which basically means to contract with speed and acceleration.
